Summer Swim
As I enter the cool water the icy chill shoots down my spine. My mother paddles next to me in a gleaming red kayak. I embarked on my journey my mother paddling by my side pretty much so I don't die. I start off strong with the always reliable breast stroke, but quickly tire and have to revert to the side stroke. I continue my swim, my destination coming closer and closer in front of me I continue to tire periodically taking breaks. After I final push I reach my destination the other side of the lake and look back across embracing my accomplishment. As I get into the kayak to be paddled back to the opposite side I finally relax and look forward to my swim next 4th of July.

Elders Epiphany
In the end of A Clean, Well-Lighted Place the Old waiter realizes what the older man is going through and how tough it really is for him. He sees the need for company when everything around is lost and there is no one else to keep you company. The old waiter values the time just as the old man does but in a different way from the young man. The young man wants to hurry and do things so he can leave while the older men want to just embrace in the moment and enjoy the time they have together, a trait only time can give them. In the end of the story the old waiter does have a epiphany because he realizes that he will someday be like the old man, old and alone looking for a clean, well-lighted place for himself to stay.

Steller Story
My Steller was written on the key themes throughout each one of the stories we read, money. The effects of every event in the stories was due to money. In Paul's Case he killed himself because he didn't have the money to live the life he wanted. In The Chrysanthemums the sails men only asked for the flowers so she will connect with him and give him work. Later in the story he only keeps the pot because it is the only thing that has value to him. In The Barn Burning the reason the man is going to burn the barn when he is killed is because the man is forcing him to pay for the carpet he destroyed.

Paul's Predicament
In Pauls case the Main character Paul is trying to run away from the way he lives. He wants to be rich and live the luxurious life while he is stuck not living the life he wants. Although Paul seems to want to just become rich this isn't true because really nothing makes Paul happy. Even after running away from his troubles and living the life that he wants he still commits suicide. This is because Paul will never truly be happy with anything, he always looks for more and even once he finds something that he life eventually it will become old to him and he will still want more.
In Chrysanthemums the women wants to get away from the beliefs that she's is inferior to men. She is greatly offended when the Pot and Pan repairman tells her that the way he lives would be much to hard of a lifestyle for a women. She is tired of her husband saying she doesn't want to go the fights because they are to violent for her because she is a women. In the story she isn't able to run away from this because she continues her ways and doesn't change even though she is ashamed of them.
She shows this by hiding from the pot and pan repairman when her and her husband drive by him.

Rebellion Through Writing
In The Yellow Wall-Paper by Charlotte Perkins Gilman the narrators rebellion is through writing. She talks about how her husband is a physician as well as her brother and how both of them tell her that writing as well as work is bad for her. She say's "There come John, and I must put this away-he hates to have me write a word" Even with her husband as well as brother telling her not to write she continues to. She says "I did write for a while in spite of them" she listens to her husband in every way with advice about her condition but her one rebellion is in her writing. She does this even though she is told not to and even though it makes her tired. This is because everyone has a point where they cannot follow rules anymore.

From Hustler to Housewife
"Calixta was preparing supper. She had set the table and was dripping coffee at the hearth. She sprang up as they came in"
This quote in significant because it plays into the role of women in the time period this story as well as the story The Revolt of "Mother". In during this time women were inferior to men they were left home and their sole purpose was to take care of the house and children. They were not able to work outside the home and own land. This quote shows how even after a revolt such as an affair the women return to that of what they have always done take care of the men. This is shown by how the women after cheating on her husband a "revolt" still prepares him dinner and waits for him to return home to eat.

Impress to Regress
Towards the beginning of the story "The real Thing" the Narrator has a upbeat personality being very impressed by the lifestyle and the way the Monarchs dressed and the way they looked. Over time throughout the story this view changes, at the beginning of the story he can see that the upper class Monarchs although older are very good looking people and would make very good models compared to that of the models he had from the lower class. He was very wrong though he found that those in the lower class were more opted to do things due to there lack of prior experience with the luxurious of life. After using these models he see's his work directly effected but them causing his workmanship to go down. After seeing the fall of people he once held to high standards he was grateful for the way in which he lived. He finishes the story with "If it be true I am content to have paid the price-- for the memory" because the Monarchs show him how it is too completely fall to the lowest possible place and still try to do anything they can to be successful and support each other.

He who they call Hawthorne
As the vivid reader as well as writer that I am I sometimes venture into other authors pieces of work. While on one of these ventures of mine I came across a writer that goes by the name Hawthorne. Although both Hawthorne are similar writers in how we both are very dark writers our style and thoughts are very different, and i hope to never be considered like him. He in style writes about how in life humanity is always imperfect. He also includes in his stories the need for morality and is very didactic in his writing. While I do not dislike his writings the difference between our writings should be easy to see for any interpretive reader.
Hating on Poe
- Hawthorne if I look to much on the Interior of a person why must you feel you must always change the world with your little moral in each story. Really what is the moral in your story The Birth-Mark don't be a pinhead and kill your wife because of one perfection, thats not a moral but merely just common sense. Your writings such as this make me truly question the depth of your intellectual ability.

Benjamin Franklin what he stands for
Ben Franklin was a founding father, scientist, and a key part of the Declaration of Independence. He was a key reason this country is where it is today.
- Benjamin Franklin stood for freedom from European powers.
- For gaining freedom through peace rather than war.
- For being a perfectionist but also realizing sometimes perfections is not key.
- For thinking of others rather than himself before thinking of himself.
- For the fact that he was not always correct and his beliefs could be swayed.
- He stood for change and improvement.
- For giving the best he could to the American people.

What is American Literature?
American literature is the writing as well as publishing of American books, poems, and letters. American books, poems, as well as letters are categorized by the location in which they were produced , the United States. American literature also includes the works of authors originating from the United States and later moving to other countries. American literature is really any type of of writing dating back to the early parts of settlement in the United states up throughout recent history. The books and articles can include anything from short stories or long novels to newspaper articles or magazine write ups. Another part of American literature is the analyzation and reading of American published books, poems, and letters. The ability to analyze and comprehend American literature is large part, being able to understand what the author is trying to portray with his or her writing is key to understanding American literature.
