The Human Stain

After reading the first 20 pages of this book I struggled to grasp who was narrating the story. It was a challenge for me the understand whether it was Nathan or Coleman speaking as the narrator. Even with this trouble I greatly enjoyed the story and how the author uses the description of current events such as the Clinton Affair. This was extremely interesting to me due to the fact that I had previously been researching this affair for my presentation. I also struggled to grasp how Coleman's wife died but hope to be informed by the author later in the text.

Gatsby Characters

The characters we see from reading chapter 2 all have a central theme in common, money. The group of these characters both look have or want money and do whatever it takes to do this. Another key theme in this chapter is how the men treat women. Tom treats women terribly not caring about Daisy and not being man enough to get a divorce from her. Another example of how Tom treats women is when he strikes Myrtle for speaking about Daisy this being just another example of Toms terrible treatment of women.
